From the Beginning

Garth and Karen Tubman opened Tubman's Drycleaning in St. Albert in October of 1992. Garth has been in the drycleaning industry since 1984 when he began as a plant manager in Edmonton. Karen, a school secretary, handles the bookkeeping and some of the day-to-day operations of the store. They were the only employees at the time of opening but are now able to offer employment to a staff of six.

Professional Designations

Garth has recently been appointed as President of the Alberta Textile Care Association (formerly known as the Alberta Professional Drycleaning Association) and is therefore well-informed regarding the latest changes to, and environmental concerns within, the industry. He also belongs to the International Fabricare Institute and is active on the Worker's Compensation Board Health and Safety Committee which strives to improve safety in drycleaning plants across Alberta.

Tubman's Customer Base

Tubman's Drycleaning serves a broad customer base. Amongst the many private citizens, corporate clients include the Edmonton Garrison (CFB Edmonton), Capital Health Authority, City of St. Albert, Walt's Klothes Kloset, and a number of St. Albert businesses.

Our Community Involvement Tubman's participating in the Rodeo Parade

Tubman's Drycleaning is very involved in the community as well. They often donate gifts and prizes for organizations such as the St. Albert Children's Theatre, Girl Guides of Canada, Scouts Canada, various schools, service groups, and non-profit organizations. They also participate annually in St. Albert's Kinsmen Rodeo Parade!

Tubman's Drycleaning was the recipient of the Small Business of the Year Award in 1996!
